Yes. Your capsules are encrypted (AES-256) and stored on AWS S3 with multi-zone replication. Only you and your designated Guardians can access them. No third party — not even CapsuleTV — can see the contents of your capsule once it's sealed.
How does the encryption work?
Your video is encrypted server-side with a unique key before storage. The decryption key only activates when the scheduled opening occurs or the Guardian validates it. It's the same technology banks use.
Who has access to my capsule?
Only the recipient and the Guardians you designate. CapsuleTV never has access to the encrypted content. We only see metadata (sealing date, scheduled opening date).
What happens if CapsuleTV gets hacked?
Our AWS servers host the encrypted data. Even in the event of a breach, the videos remain unreadable because the decryption key stays inaccessible. Raw data is never exposed.
Can my capsule be seen by other users?
No. Each capsule has individual, private access rights. It can't be accessed without the unique generated URL or your account.
What if I need to edit or delete my capsule before sealing it?
As long as your capsule isn't sealed, you can edit or delete it at any time, free of charge. Once sealed and paid for, it's immutable — that's by design, to guarantee its authenticity.
Storage & Technical Longevity
How long will my capsule be stored?
For life. Once sealed and paid for, your capsule is hosted and securely kept indefinitely — even after it's opened. No time limit, no automatic deletion.
What happens to my capsule if CapsuleTV shuts down?
We have a succession protocol: if we were to shut down, access to your capsules remains guaranteed through a designated trusted third party or an organized transfer. Your Guardian receives direct access to ensure your capsule is opened.
What video format is used? Will it still play in 50 years?
MP4, a universal standard. It's the most durable and widely compatible format available. We make sure the video stays playable on future players.
Is there a maximum length for a capsule?
No file size limit. You can record up to 30 minutes of video (10 questions × 3 minutes). Quality is optimized for every device.
What happens if there's a server loss or outage?
That's extremely unlikely. We use AWS S3 with multi-zone redundancy (at least 3 physical copies in different locations). The stated durability rate is 99.999999999% (11 nines).
How do I know my capsule won't be lost?
We offer a written guarantee: in the event of proven loss attributable to CapsuleTV, you get a full refund. Automatic integrity checks run every month.
Longevity & Trust
How can I be sure my capsule will open on the right date?
A double mechanism: the opening is scheduled for a precise date AND your Guardian receives reminders (30 days, 7 days ahead) to validate the opening. If the date passes, notifications keep going until someone acts.
What happens if my Guardian dies or can't be reached?
You can name two. If one is unreachable, the other can validate the opening. Reminders keep going until confirmation. You can also change your Guardian right up until sealing.
Will the recipient really be notified on the right date?
Yes. On the scheduled date, they receive an email or SMS notification. If they don't respond, three automatic follow-ups are sent (day 1, day 7, day 30). Follow-through is guaranteed.
What if I die before the capsule is opened?
The capsule continues its cycle as normal. Your Guardian watches over its scheduled opening. That's actually the whole point: leaving a message that opens at the right moment, even after you're gone.
Do you have a service continuity guarantee?
Yes. We guarantee: (1) lifetime hosting; (2) if we shut down, an organized transfer to a trusted third party; (3) a full refund for any unresolved interruption.
Who guarantees you'll still be around in 20 years?
Honestly: we do everything we can to be. But we've also secured the worst-case scenario: your Guardian can download your unlocked capsule to keep a local, secure copy, if they choose to.

What if I mess up an answer?
You can redo any question free of charge before sealing. Once sealed, the capsule is immutable — that's what guarantees its authenticity.
Can I share my capsule with others before it opens?
Not by design — the element of surprise is guaranteed. Only the Guardians you designate know it exists. The recipient discovers it when it opens.
How does the Guardian know they need to open the capsule?
They receive a clear email explaining their role, then scheduled reminders (30 and 7 days before the date). On the opening date, they get a notification: "It's time."
Can I create several capsules for the same person?
Yes, as many as you like. Each with its own date or triggering event. Great for major milestones (turning 18, a wedding, a birth, and so on).
How do I access my capsule once it's open?
Through the notification email you receive on the scheduled date. A unique link gives you access to the video, downloadable to keep a local copy if you'd like.

Are you GDPR compliant?

Can I create a capsule for a minor? Is that legal?
Yes, if you're the parent or legal guardian. The capsule is kept and opened once they reach adulthood, or at whichever event you define. This respects the child's right to their image and privacy.
Do you sell my data?

Can you delete my capsule if I change my mind?

What do I need, technically, to record a capsule?
A smartphone, tablet, or computer. A modern web browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox). A good internet connection and a webcam or camera. That's it — no app to download.
Can I record on mobile? Is it optimized for it?
Yes, it's actually our priority. The interface is responsive and built for small screens. You can record your capsule straight from your phone, in portrait or landscape.
What happens if my internet connection drops during recording?
No need to worry. Every answer saves automatically. If the connection drops, you pick up at the next question, right where you left off. Nothing is lost.
How long does the automatic edit take?
Between 2 and 5 minutes after your last answer. You get a notification once the video's ready, and you can preview it before paying.
